Why Do We Give?
King David is coming to the end of his reign- he is raising funds to build the temple

  1. Because we delight in God’s house- V3  (set my affection on the church- house of God - it is a house of worship, house of prayer, house of  fellowship, house of refuge, house of needs)

  2. Out of celebration not obligation- V6, V17, 9  they offered willingly; with joy 

  3. Give from our hearts- V9- loyal heart

  4. God Driven

  5. We know God is the owner and we are the steward-  16

  6. It pleases God -V 17

When to be Patient-
Seeds Don’t Grow Overnight-Patience is the slow beauty of God’s work
  1.  When circumstances are uncontrollable- see how the farmer waits

  2. When people are unchangeable- as an example- take the prophets

  3. When problems are unexplainable- you have heard of Job’s perseverance

Choosing Shapes Your Future-Who Will Choose? “For me and my house, we will see the Lord”
  1.  God begins with grace, not demands- v13 - In NT he ate with sinners and offered Grace
  2. The battle of competing with gods within -V14-15  What idols do we carry with us?  Choose who you will serve, Isaiah 43
  3. The non negotiable- as for me and my house
  4. Quick responses often bring shallow commitments V-16-20
