The Danger of A Wounded Spirit
Proverbs 18:14 -The human spirit can endure in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear it?

The Dangers

  1. A crushed spirit produces un-forgiveness

  2. A crushed spirit produces deception- everyone is out to get me

  3. A crushed spirit creates division in churches, families 

  4. A crushed spirit causes self-dependence

  5. A crushed spirit can harbor pride— I was done wrong and someone needs to pay.  You will never heal the past by dwelling there.

Luke 4:18

He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted- to preach deliverance to the captive sea recovering sight to the blind to set at liberty to those oppressed.

A warning and a Reminder from God

Matthew 25:14-30. (Parable of the Talents)

  1. Ownership- Everything I have belongs to God - V 14

  2. Allocation- God has given you some unique talents - V 15

  3. Accountability- God expects me to use my talents - V 19

  4. Utilization- It is wrong for me to bury what God gave me. V- 16-18

  5. Motivation- Fear keeps me from using my talents - V 25

  6. Application- If I do not use it, I will lose it. V 28

  7. Compensation- If I use my talents, I will be rewarded.  V 23

Fight For Your Family

Nehemiah 4:14

  1. Fight by knowing your enemy - Ephesians 6:12- We wrestle against principalities, peers, against the darkness of the world and against spiritual wickedness in high places

  2. Fight by using the right weapons- Corinthians 10:4 - our weapons are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds

  3. Fight by starting early! Proverbs 22:6- Train up your child in the way they should go
    a.  They are curious - entertain their questions- let them learn from you instead of the world
    b.  Their memory - they remember the negatives not just the positives
    c.  Their trust- earn their trust
    d.  Their humility- 

  4. Surrender your life to Christ -God doesn’t care who you were, He care who you are.

Overcoming Busy- Finding Confidence in Christ Bring Rest to Our Souls

Why do I do what I don’t want to do- there is a battle that taking place for your soul-

What makes you love God more? What do you do that draws you closer to God?   Rev 2:4 I hold this against you- You have forsaken your first love.

  1. My rest comes in God

  2. We have confidence-God is my refuge

The Power of the Inner Presence

  1. The power is by invitation only- we confess our sins and turn to Jesus

  2. The power is is not dormant - it is God who is working in you- for His good pleasure

  3. The power will reveal satan’s strategy

  4. The power is full of overcoming

  5. The power is filled with faith and obedience

God doesn’t want your leftovers, He wants your best!

  1. They were doubting God's character V2 (How have You loved us?)

  2. They were not showing God any Honor V6

  3. They were angry about God's requirements V7 (they were defiling the altar)

  4. They were not giving God their best V8 

Your best begins with Salvation

Matthew 9: 27-30

I’ll say “Yes Lord” Yes

“Do something I am not used to”

Without faith, it is impossible to please God. 

  1. Yes, Lord! I love you with all of my heart.

  2. Yes, Lord, I am tired of doing things my way and I want to do it Your way.

  3. Yes, Lord, I believe in a miracle, I can expect the impossible.

  4.   Yes Lord, I will believe without seeing any evidence.

  5.   Yes Lord, I will tell others about YOU.

  6.   Yes Lord, I will be obedient.

In the desert:

The Hardest Prayer You Will Ever Pray-

“Your will be done”

Matthew 6: 9-10

  1. When we pray “Your will be done” we are giving up control of our own life”-We decrease so that He can increase”

  2. It is hard to pray “Your will be done” because we often doubt that God wants the best for us. 

  3. It is hare to pray “Your will be done” because God’s will, sometimes involves suffering and pain. I.e.
    the Apostle Paul… “remove this form from my flesh”

  4. It is hard to pray “Your will be done” because you are praying against the status quo.

  5. It is hard to pray, “Your will be done” because God’s will may not include us.

Romans 13:14. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.  

Ephesians 5:15-20

  1. I will walk by faith.  V 15 (don’t walk as fools, but wise)

  2. I will not take anything for granted V 16 redeem the time, because the days are evil

  3. I will seek God’s will. V 17

  4. I will be high on Jesus, not chemicals- V:18  be filled with the Spirit
    -What does Jesus do for you

  5. I will enjoy my day with the Lord V 18

  6. I will give thanks every day! V 20

  7. I will be there for my brothers and sisters in Christ. V 21

  1.  What is your evaluation of God?  “The mighty hand of God” Is 40-28-29

  2.  How do you evaluate yourself.  “Humble yourselves therefore”

  3.  What is your evaluation of God’s for? Psalm 119:105-107. Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path… Revive me, O Lord!

  4.  What is your evaluation of prayer? Philippians 4:6-7. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
